A mount (also known as a passepartout) creates space around your artwork within the frame, enhancing its visual presentation. It highlights the artwork and gives the overall composition a more elegant and balanced look – especially for pieces where the colours extend all the way to the edges.

A mount also allows you to frame a non-standard sized artwork in a standard-sized frame – a practical solution if you want flexibility without custom sizing.

However, we generally don’t recommend adding a mount if your artwork already has a white border, as it often creates the same visual effect.

Our white mount is available in sizes up to 120 x 160 cm. The other 10 colours are available up to 81 x 110 cm. If you need a larger size, feel free to contact us at [email protected].

For most users, please enter the exact dimensions of your picture. By default, our system automatically reduces the aperture (the hole) by 5mm on each side (1cm total reduction). This creates a necessary overlap to ensure your picture sits securely behind the mount and does not fall through the opening.

However, if you need the hole cut to exact measurements (without any reduction), simply deselect the "Subtract 1 cm from artwork size" option in the configurator.

You should order the External Size to match your frame exactly. If you bought a 50x70cm frame, order a 50x70cm mount. Frame measurements always refer to the glass size (the inside), not the outer wood edge.

While this is a personal preference, the "Golden Rule" of framing suggests a border of 40mm to 50mm (4-5cm) for a balanced look.

• Small pictures: A wider border (50mm+) can make small photos look more dramatic.
• Large pictures: A standard 50mm border usually works well.
• We recommend avoiding borders thinner than 25mm, as they can look cramped and are difficult to cut cleanly.

Vår rekommendation: För modern konst, foton och ett stilrent hem rekommenderar vi lika stora kanter runt om. För klassiska konstverk, äldre foton eller litografier ger en bredare botten ett otroligt elegant och harmoniskt uttryck.

Yes, absolutely! Our online configurator supports between 1 and 20 openings, and you have complete freedom to design the layout and placement of the apertures yourself.
Simply select the opening type "Multiple" in step 2. From there, you can design your own unique layout. We'll be happy to set the design up for you, so it turns out exactly as you have it in mind.

Yes. We use high-quality mount board that is pH neutral (acid-free) and meets conservation standards. This ensures your artwork will not be damaged or discolored over time.

• White Core: Most of our mounts have a "White Core," meaning the cut edge is a crisp, bright white.
• Black Core: We also offer specific mounts with a "Black Core," where the cut edge is black for a dramatic effect.
